Lughnasadh 2013 - For the Children

A Pagan Family Holiday Celebration!
August 10, 2013

Lughnasadh. Celebrating the Wheel of the Year with Children!

It is now high summer and the union of Sun and Earth, of God and Goddess, has produced the First Harvest. Lammas is the celebration of this first, Grain Harvest, a time for gathering in and giving thanks for abundance.

We will still celebrate with "Warrior Games", but geared for the children this year! It's sorta like a Pagan Play-date!

We also decided to do this on the 10th so that the parents may attend adult Rituals.

It has recently come to our attention some of the practices that are being observed in public rituals. We wish to publicly assure all parents that all of our open Ritual are CHILD FRIENDLY. Meaning no sex, no alcohol, no drugs and no mind-altering incense.

"Lughnasad celebrated on August Eve, or August 1. Lughnasad represents the first day of Celtic autumn and the last of the four great fire festivals of the Celtic year. It is also the first of the three annual harvests along with Mabon, the second harvest, and Samhain, the third and final harvest of the year. Typical Lughnasad observances included the gathering of wild berries and the climbing of hills, as well as the visitations of holy wells. The Lughnasad feast typically featured corn and bread baked from new wheat. Lughnasad was also characterized by the selling of livestock and the country fair, replete with festivals, games, and dances. Often, the celebrations would last for weeks, sometimes an entire month beginning in mid-July and commencing through mid-August." The Wiccan Year by Judy Ann Nock

Blue Full Moon Fireside Moot & Croning Ceremony/maybe Drumming & Singing Circle
August 21, 2013

The Full Moon Fireside Moot is also a Blue Moon and falls on August 20-21, 2013. It’ll be a Blue Moon by the seasonal definition, that is, the third of four full moons to take place in a season, in this case between the June 2013 solstice and September equinox.

There will also be a Croning Ceremony at this gathering.
It will be a very powerful evening!
