Zoroastrianism

Believed to have originated in Afghanistan between 1800 to 800 BC, Zoroastrianism is the oldest of the recorded world-religions still in existence. It has had substantial influence on mankind, directly and indirectly. It is considered the first monotheistic religion.

Their theology has had a great impact on Judaism, Christianity and other later religions, in the beliefs surrounding God and Satan, the soul, heaven and hell, savior, resurrection, and final judgment.

Zoroastrianism all but disappeared in Persia after the Muslim invasion of 637 C.E. Only about 20,000 still survive in remote villages in Iran, but over the centuries many have sought religious freedom in India. Zoroastrianism is currently growing in numbers.
